What we collect
Riffle & Rise is a reading-first publication. We do not require accounts and we do not sell reader data. Our web server records standard access logs (IP address, browser type, referring page, timestamp) which are retained for a short period for security and aggregate analytics.
Cookies and tracking technologies
We use minimal cookies required for the site to function. If we introduce analytics tooling we will use privacy-respecting, aggregate-only providers and disclose them here. Third-party advertising partners (including Google) may also set cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can learn more about how Google uses cookies at Google's advertising technologies page.
Third-party advertising
We may display advertisements provided by third-party ad networks, including Google AdSense and Google Ad Manager. These services may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect information about your visits and interests in order to display personalized advertisements. This information may be shared with ad networks and other advertisers to deliver more relevant ads.
Opting out of personalized ads
You can opt out of Google's personalized advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings — Turn off personalization. You can also learn more about Google's partner sites and how your data is used at Google Policies — Technologies on partner sites. Opting out does not remove ads; it only prevents them from being personalized based on your browsing history.
Contact and correspondence
If you email us, we retain that correspondence to continue the conversation. We do not add reader emails to marketing lists without explicit consent.
Data retention and security
Access logs are retained for no longer than 90 days before automatic deletion. Email correspondence is retained for as long as the conversation is active and deleted upon request. We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you by emailing [email protected]. We aim to respond within thirty days. Where applicable under GDPR or CCPA, you also have the right to data portability, to restrict processing, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
International transfers
Our site is hosted on servers that may be located outside your country of residence. By using this site you acknowledge that your data may be processed in a jurisdiction with different data protection laws. We take appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) where required.
Children
This site is intended for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we will provide a prominent notice on the site. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
